Granwood Refurbishment – Honiton Leisure Centre

For this restoration project, the team were in Honiton completing works on the local leisure centre. This is quite a large contract as the centre has many different sporting facilities. The specification of the contract was to perform maintenance on the sports hall flooring and carry out refurbishment of the squash court and dance studio.
The condition of the floor in the sports hall was worn and dirty, with scratches around the high traffic areas. The existing lacquer on the flooring had become faded, causing some areas to become slippery. The sports flooring needing a deep clean and abrade and to resurface with sports lacquer to return traction to the floor. This also helps to protect the games court line markings. The team managed to remove the ingrained dirt and scratches on the floor. They then applied sports lacquer to give the floor a unified gloss finish again.
The squash court had holes and scratches in the wall where squash rackets had worn away the plaster. The white paint on the walls had also become dirty and the flooring itself had become badly scratched and faded. The flooring in the squash court was sanded and squash court line marking reapplied. Once the walls were re-plastered and painted, the squash court looked new.
The dance studio was fitted with beech flooring that needed a lot of attention due to the high left of foot traffic. The flooring had been refurbished several years ago but due to heavy use, the client wanted the flooring to look new again. The team sanded back the flooring to a reveal the fresh timber and applied coats of sports lacquer. This brought the floor back to a new condition without any imperfections. Furthermore, the traction was restored which provided a safe playing environment.
We had 6 sports floor engineers for the duration of this contract which took 1 week to complete the Granwood refurbishment
