Another fantastic gymnasium refurbishment completed at Hilltop primary school. This project had a merbau 250 square meter hall and required sanding, adding games lines and finishing with a gloss coating. The difference this work did to the floor was amazing, you would think it was a whole different floor! This gymnasium refurbishment got a total transformation. We also welcomed a gymnasium refurbishment as the previous project had been a 750 square meter sports hall!
A team of two from courtship flooring arrived and we instantly noticed the African hardwood floor. This type of wood is rarely used on sports hall floors which made this project quite unique. However, before we started the refurbishment we noticed that the floor was covered with a thick layer of bourneseal. This is a polish that is sometimes used on the flooring in schools to keep it looking shiny. Unfortunately, however, it offers no protection to the wood and is not accredited for use by the sports industry. Using Bourneseal also means that you lose the beautiful light finish of the wood, resulting in a dull looking gymnasium floor.
After stripping down the floor, you can instantly see in the images below the difference that it made. We then applied a primer coat for protection, added the various games lines and the gloss finish which makes the finished floor look particularly stunning. The client at Hilltop Primary was thrilled with the result!
