Modified Epoxy Coating Project For A Granwood Sports Hall

We have recently been asked by one of our valued clients, St Georges School in Ascot, to resolve their ongoing problems with their Granwood composite block sports hall floor.

St Georges School was the first school which Winston Churchill attended, so it’s a location steeped in history with many historical features.

They needed a solution which would restore their sports hall floor of over 50 years without digging too deep into the budget. There were a number of issues, including poor cosmetic appeal, constant maintenance requirements and more urgently, low traction. Poor traction increases the risk of any sporting activity, therefore this is a health and safety risk.

We carried out a refurbishment involving a modified epoxy coating. The client chose a pastel shade that not only fully protected the failing surface, but also transformed the arena overnight. The repairs gave the impression of a new installation at a fraction of the cost. The client was then able to choose from a selection of games lines from a blank sheet. On this occasion, we suggested the school logo to be inserted into the centre basketball circle. We then fitted new skirting and applied 2 coats of an accredited sports seal to give the playing surface the regulation traction levels for the safe undertaking of sporting activity.

The client was extremely impressed and this restoration service allowed them to delay the need for a new installation.
