Sports Hall Flooring Bristol

Indoor Sports Hall Flooring Installations Throughout the UK, Europe & Worldwide

Bristol is under an hour from our Somerset base, which makes it one of the best-served cities on our map. Courtship Flooring has provided installations, refurbishments and maintenance for indoor sports floors since 1987, and Bristol’s mix of universities, schools and converted industrial buildings keeps us busy.

We are family-run, we subcontract nothing, and we know this city’s flooring quirks better than most, from Victorian halls with original timber to warehouse gyms where the sub-floor matters more than the surface.

Whatever building your sport lives in, we will tell you plainly what the floor needs, what it costs and how quickly it can happen, and the survey will not cost you a penny.

Finsihed Timber Sanding, Sealing And Relined

Sports Hall Floor Refurbishment In Bristol

Bristol refurbishments follow our proven routine: moisture checks first, then dust-controlled sanding back to clean timber, honest board repairs, a seal chosen for the traffic, and precise new markings for every sport in the hall. School crests and club logos go in at the same time if you want them.

University and club facilities rarely get quiet weeks, so ours is a business built on awkward hours: overnight programmes, weekend blocks and holiday windows, all agreed in writing before we start.

Refurbishment is one part of a wider service: as sports flooring contractors for Bristol and the West we also take on floor sanding, court line marking, sprung dance studio floors and squash court care.

Warehouse Conversions And The Moisture Question

Bristol’s stock of converted warehouses and industrial units makes brilliant gym space with one hidden catch: moisture. Concrete slabs in older buildings often lack effective damp protection, and a sports floor laid straight over one will fail long before its time. We covered the problem in detail in our piece on sub-floor moisture barriers and the hidden failures they prevent.

Every installation we quote in a converted building starts with moisture readings, and where a barrier is needed we specify and fit the right one, so the floor above it gets its full lifespan.

Universities, Clubs And Heritage Halls

From university sports centres, where we have looked at everything from multi-courts to durable indoor tennis surfaces, to the historic halls scattered across the city and into Somerset, Bristol offers every flooring challenge going, and we enjoy all of them.

Heritage timber gets restored rather than replaced wherever it is sound. Modern courts get markings to governing body specification and slip testing with written reports. And everything gets the same family-firm care it has had since 1987.

An outstanding company to deal with and they couldn’t have been better to work with. St George’s Ascot now has a stunning new sports hall floor and we are delighted. From quote, support, delivery and after sales, the Team has been brilliant. Thank you. 👍

St Katherines Church Church Hall (after)

Case Study: St Katherine's Church Hall

Not every floor we save is in a sports centre. St Katherine’s church hall had the kind of well-loved, well-worn floor that serves badminton one evening and the village fete the next, and the committee wanted it rescued rather than replaced. We restored it completely, and the after photographs show a hall ready for another few decades of everything.

Bristol and its surrounding villages are full of halls like this, and the same honest approach applies whether the floor hosts county sport or the toddler group: restore what is sound, repair what is not, and price it fairly.

FAQS

Refurbishment of a sound floor costs a fraction of replacement, which is why we check it first. New installations are priced per square metre and vary by system, from vinyl to solid timber. Bristol is under an hour away, so the free survey is easy to arrange.

In a converted or older building, quite possibly. The only honest answer comes from moisture readings, which are part of every survey we do. If a barrier is needed we will specify the right system, and if it is not, we will say so and save you the money.

A typical hall takes four to five days, and we plan around teaching calendars, fixture lists and exam periods, with overnight and weekend working where a facility cannot close. Surveys usually happen within days of your call.
